Open Access Policy 

Please note that compliance with the Open Access to Research Outputs policy is a condition of acceptance of all Heart and Stroke Foundation research funding. Procedures for how publication costs are managed may differ across provincial Foundations. Common CV

Detailed Grant funding information for grants currently held and currently applied for (i.e. file attachment previously requested) is no longer required on Common CV.

Creating the CD

Mac Users: Ensure that the CD is created for viewing on a PC.


Grant-in-Aid


New format requirements for Research Proposal section:
  • The Research Proposal should be predominantly text and is limited to 11 pages.
  • References must be placed at the end of the research proposal and will not count toward the 11 page limit.
  • For figures, charts, tables, etc., the applicant should choose one or both of the following options:
    • Embed within the research proposal to improve the clarity of the grant. These embedded items will count toward the 11 page limit. Pages beyond the 11 page limit will NOT be evaluated by the reviewers. 
    • Append after the references. These appended items should not exceed seven (7) pages.
  • Additional supporting documentation such as questionnaires, RCT methods, consent forms, etc. may be attached as a separate document (no page restriction).


Senior Personnel


New Investigator

Modification to Eligibility Criteria (page 8, section C2.1b)

At the time of submission, no more than five (5) years may have passed since the date of the first faculty appointment at the Assistant or Clinical Assistant Professor level. This would include Adjunct positions in a research track for which the applicant is eligible to write a GIA (as a Principal Investigator).


Research Scholarship


Applications for the Research Scholarship award must be received by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (HSFC) no later than 16:00 (EDT) on November 1 of each year.

 


Junior Personnel


Doctoral Research Award

The HSFC Doctoral Research Award program will not be offered for the 2011/2012 funding year. Current award recipients will continue to be supported until the end of their term; however, no new applications will be accepted in the fall open competition.

Please note that Doctoral Research Awards will still be funded through the Focus on Stroke and Jump Start Resuscitation partnered Personnel Award Programs.

Research Fellowship

Applicants with a health professional degree at doctoral level (e.g. MD, BM, DDS, DVM, and PharmD; or other regulated accredited health professionals who have a PhD), who hold a license to practice in a province or territory of Canada, are eligible for this award at any time during, or within a period of five (5) years after, the completion of clinical training. Undergraduate and residency training are not considered as research experience.
