The Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium is the first large-scale effort to conduct
clinical trials in sudden cardiac arrest and severe traumatic injury focusing on
interventions by Emergency Medical Services teams in the field, when there is
optimal potential for patient benefit. The ultimate objectives are to improve
survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest and severe traumatic injury. The
Consortium supports ten regional Clinical Centres and one Data and Coordinating
Centre in the U.S. and Canada and is much needed infrastructure for the rapid
translation of research advances into improved resuscitation
outcomes.
The Canadian sites that are part of the Consortium are
supported by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in partnership with the
NIH National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Defence Research and Development
Canada, and the CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health.
