Results of the Focus on Stroke VI Personnel Awards Competition

(November 2006 Competition)

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Canadian Stroke Network, and the CIHR/Rx&D Collaborative Research Program along with AstraZeneca Canada are pleased to announce the results of the sixth Focus on Stroke personnel awards competition.

This special competition was launched to increase capacity for stroke research in Canada and to address the shortage of highly qualified personnel working in this important area. This initiative has provided new funding opportunities for training through Doctoral Research Awards and Postdoctoral Fellowships in the field of stroke. For this competition a total of 36 applications were reviewed.

The overall Focus on Stroke initiative through all competitions, represents total funding for Doctoral, Post-doctoral and New Investigator Awards of over $8.7 million by all partners and a total of 98 awards to date.
