  1.  Funding Decisions
       a) Focus on Stroke 5

    The Canadian Stroke Network, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, and the CIHR/Rx&D Program along with AstraZeneca Canada are pleased to announce the results of the fifth Focus on Stroke personnel awards competition.

    This special competition was launched to increase capacity for stroke research in Canada and to address the shortage of highly qualified personnel working in this important area. This initiative has provided new funding opportunities for training through Doctoral Research Awards and Postdoctoral Fellowships in the field of stroke. For this competition, a total of 49 applications were reviewed. Results are available at: Focus on Stroke
       b) Clinical Research Fellowship
    The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, CIHR and AstraZeneca Canada are pleased to announce the results of the Clinical Research Fellowship program competition. The purpose of the Clinical Research Fellowship program is to help develop research expertise among a new generation of physician scientists in Canada to help facilitate innovative research in cardiovascular disease and stroke in the next decades.        c) HSFC Nursing Research Fellowship
    The Nursing Research Fellowship is an "in-training" award to support nurses who intend to undertake independent research programs. For a complete list of awardees, please visit: Nursing Research Fellowship - New Awards
       d) HSFO Nursing Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship
    The Nursing Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship is an "in-training" award for persons undertaking academic preparation in some area of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular nursing. This award is directed towards preparing nurses who have completed their doctoral degree and who intend to undertake independent research programs.   3.  New Guidelines and Application Forms

    The Guidelines and Application Forms for the 2007/08 Funding Year are now available. Please note that there have been changes with this year's guidelines and application forms. Please review the "summary of changes" for details.

  4. The submission deadline for the Grant-in-aid, New Investigator and Career Investigator funding opportunities is September 1, 2006.

      a) Focus on Stroke 6
